Everything you need to know about applying for the MBBS program — for both Bangladeshi and foreign students.

MBBS Admission — Bangladeshi Students

Admission to the program is highly competitive. Bangladeshi students will have to sit in a nation-wide written test. The admission criteria and the test are set and conducted by the Bangladesh Ministry of Health & Family Welfare and Bangladesh Medical and Dental Council (BMDC). Applications for the yearly will be invited by the Director Medical Education, Government of Bangladesh. The admission test is organized and conducted by the Director Medical Education for Government and Private Medical Colleges.

1Eligibility to Sit in the Test
Candidates who passed SSC or equivalent examination in science group and HSC or equivalent examination in science group with Physics, Chemistry and Biology from any recognized board or University of Bangladesh and obtaining total GPA 9.0 with minimum GPA 4.0 either SSC or HSC and Biology with minimum GPA 4.0 in HSC are eligible to apply. Those who have passed ‘O’ and ‘A’ level or equivalent examinations having equivalent marks also eligible to apply with an equivalent certificate from Director of Medical Education, Mohakhali, Dhaka.
2Application Procedure
Applications are to be submitted to the Medical College as per circular of the Director Medical Education. A candidate who obtains minimum 40 out of 100 in the Test is eligible to apply in private medical college and get admission according to merit list.
3Admission into the Course
List of finally selected candidates is to be submitted to the Director Medical Education and is to be approved by the governing body of the medical college. The finally selected candidates shall have to get admission by the announced date and time. Otherwise their selection may be cancelled and the vacant place will be filled up by the candidates in the waiting list.
4Bond / Undertaking
The candidates and their parents or guardians are required to sign bonds on non-judicial stamp regarding the terms and conditions of study, conduct and discipline during admission into the college. Formation of committee or association or union is not allowed. All types of demonstrations, processions and shouting in the college, hostel & hospital premises are prohibited and students involved in these types of activities are liable to be expelled from the college.

Admission — Foreign Students

1Equivalence of Foreign Degree
Must have passed qualifying examinations (HSC/’A’ level) or equivalent examination. SSC/’O’ level or equivalent examination passed. HSC/’A’ level or equivalent examination passed. As per govt rule and equivalency certificate of marks from Director Medical Education, DGHS.
2Application Form
Two (2) copies of duly filled application forms along with the following documents should be sent to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Dhaka: copy of passport, six (6) passport size photographs, and all certificates duly attested by the competent authority — i.e. the Education Ministry of the respective country — and also authenticated by the respective Bangladesh Missions abroad / Foreign Missions based in Dhaka.
3Application Fee
Each application must attach a non-refundable Demand Draft or Telegraphic Transfer (TT) of US$ 60.00 (sixty) payable to: “The Director, Medical Education and HMPD, DGHS, Mohakhali, Dhaka, Bangladesh”.
4Application Process
Only applications processed through Bangladesh Missions abroad or through the Missions in Dhaka of respective countries will be considered for admission. Applications must reach the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Dhaka within the deadline published on the DGHS Bangladesh website (www.dghs.gov.bd) and the Consulate of Bangladesh. Attested copies of certificates, mark-sheets and passport must be submitted along with the application — all attested by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs; no application will be accepted without attestation. Candidates must mention the name of President Abdul Hamid Medical College in their application, and successful applicants must produce all original academic certificates, mark-sheets and transcripts at admission.

Notes (N.B.)

  1. Student admission will be confirmed after obtaining: marks equivalence (eligibility) certificate; academic paper attestation with G.O. number from MOFA; and deposit of the admission fee in the bank.
  2. Payment should be made only through bank remittance in favour of President Abdul Hamid Medical College.
  3. No intern fee is applicable for Foreign Students.
  4. Any changes in the admission rules shall be followed according to the order of the Government of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh.
  5. These fees include: Admission Fee, Tuition Fee, Hostel Rent, and Session Fee.
  6. Admission fees are non-refundable.
